The Journey of an Engineer Who Never Stopped Teaching
Dr. Jaspal Singh's relationship with Civil Engineering began not in a classroom - but with a deep, genuine curiosity about how the world is built. Growing up, he was the kind of student who didn't just want to pass exams; he wanted to understand why a dam holds, how a river behaves, why soil fails. That curiosity never left him.
After completing his B.Tech in Civil Engineering (2009), Dr. Jaspal Singh cleared two of India's most prestigious engineering examinations - the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) with AIR-04, GATE with AIR-06, MPPSC AE Exam with AIR-11 & several State AE/JE and PSU examinations. These ranks didn't just reflect preparation - they reflected a deep, structural understanding of Civil Engineering that few can match.
He went on to complete his M.Tech (2016) and is a PhD holder in Civil Engineering (2022), combining academic rigour with years of real-world perspective on what aspirants actually need to succeed.
From 2013 to 2020, Dr. Jaspal Singh served as the Head of Department (HOD) at Made Easy - one of India's most respected GATE and ESE coaching institutions. Under his leadership, countless students cleared ESE and GATE with top ranks. His teaching approach - grounded in first-principles, rich with intuition, and always honest - became the defining experience of Made Easy's Civil Engineering programme during those years.
In 2020, he joined Unacademy as an educator, and since then has served as the Head of the Educator Advisory Committee - shaping how Civil Engineering is taught across India's largest online learning platform. His live classes, structured courses, and mentorship programmes have directly impacted over 1 lakh aspirants across the country.
In 2023, Dr. Jaspal Singh completed executive programmes at both IIM Calcutta and IISc Bangalore - deepening his expertise in educational leadership and technical excellence. Dear Aspirant,
I know how it feels to sit with a subject that refuses to make sense. I know the 2 AM frustration when a concept just won't click. I know what it's like to wonder - "Am I really cut out for this?" I've been there. And I want you to know - you are.
I didn't start teaching because it was a good career move. I started teaching because I genuinely could not watch bright, hardworking students struggle with concepts that - with the right explanation - are actually beautiful and logical. Civil Engineering is not difficult. It's just often taught wrong.
I cleared ESE with AIR-04 and GATE with AIR-06. I've sat in the same hall you'll sit in. I've felt the same nerves you feel. And what I learned from that experience - more than any formula - is that the right preparation, with the right guidance, makes all the difference.
My goal has always been simple: to be the teacher I wish I had. Someone who explains the "why" behind every formula. Someone who treats you like an intelligent adult, not just a student to be passed along. Someone who actually cares whether you understood - not just whether the syllabus was "covered."
This platform exists for one reason: to give every aspirant - regardless of their coaching budget, their city, their background - access to the best possible preparation material. Because I believe that if someone is putting in the effort and the hours, the least I can do is make sure the resources are there for them.

Environmental Engineering
"Environmental Engineering is one of the highest-weightage subjects in ESE, and most students either love it or are terrified of it. I make sure every student loves it - by connecting every concept to real-world systems: how your city's water is treated, how sewage is managed, how pollution is controlled. Once you see it that way, the formulas fall into place naturally."
Geotechnical Engineering
"Soil Mechanics is one of those subjects where students memorise without understanding - and then blank out in the exam. My approach is to make you feel the soil. Understand why it behaves the way it does under load, under water, under stress. Once the logic is clear, the numericals are just arithmetic. My Geotechnical notes are used across batches all over India - and I'm proud of that."
Engineering Hydrology
"Hydrology is misunderstood as a subject that requires a lot of memorisation. It doesn't - it requires understanding the water cycle at a deeper level. I teach Hydrology by taking students through what actually happens in a watershed, and then layering the analysis on top. By the time we're done, students are solving unit hydrograph problems with confidence - not just copying steps."
Irrigation Engineering
"Irrigation Engineering has some of the most beautiful design problems in Civil Engineering - canal design, duty and delta, water distribution systems. This subject rewards students who think clearly. I teach it with a strong emphasis on the design logic, so that even unfamiliar problems in the exam feel approachable. Most students who study Irrigation Engineering with me end up making it a scoring subject."
